(Ohio).- It will be weeks before the Ohio Casino Control Commission releases the initial revenue reports from sports betting, but the state’s four casinos had a stable if unspectacular year in 2022 without that new form of gambling.
The commission provided a year-end revenue report last week that showed the casinos made $1,005,200,879 in 2022, up slightly from $983,711,240 in 2021. They made $701.5 million from slots and $303.7 million from table games.
The figures included a December with statewide casino revenue of $83.8 million, up 6.5% from November but down slightly from $84.6 million earned in December 2021.
The Ohio Lottery previously reported that the state’s seven racinos saw a slight bump in their own revenue from VLTs in 2022, reaching $1.327 billion compared to $1.326 billion the prior year.
The casinos and racinos have been adding retail sportsbooks as a result of the state’s launch of legal sports betting on Jan. 1, and there’s potential for that to increase their traditional gaming revenue as a result of having more people on the property.
Different casino leaders for last month, year
Hollywood Casino Columbus was the top revenue-generating casino in 2022, with a total of $263.6 million. Its December revenue was $21.8 million.
JACK Cleveland Casino slightly trailed Hollywood Columbus for the year, with a total of $262.4 million, but it led the state in December revenue with $23.6 million.
Hard Rock Cincinnati was third for both the year and the month, with revenue of $251.5 million and $20.3 million, respectively. Meanwhile, Hollywood Toledo brought in $227.7 million on the year and $18.2 million for December.
